How To Stop Dandruff

Dandruff is a condition in which flakes and chunks of dead skin are shed from a persons scalp and for some people it can cause self esteem problems. In order to get rid of dandruff the best thing is to start using an appropriate shampoo. But sometimes shampoo doesn't help and this is where home remedies come to the rescue.

In the winter, dandruff is more common since the air is really dry and people put heatings on, which takes out the humidity in the air and makes your scalp dry. So be sure to use conditioner after each wash.

Quick Tips :
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Avoid oily and junk food since they are among the main reasons for dandruff. Eat fruits and vegetables rich in vitamin C, as well as nuts, seeds or leafy greens rich in vitamin E, every day.

Add proteins, whole grains, legumes and other vegetables rich in B vitamins and zinc as well.
Get plenty of B vitamin by eating things such as eggs, cabbage, and yeast. These also help provide sulfur, which is vital to your scalp.

Leave on the anti-dandruff shampoo on your scalp for atleast 5 minutes before washing off.  Don't scratch. Massage your scalp thoroughly, while taking care not to scratch it with your nails, rub gently, because fingernails can damage the roots.

Blend together 1 tbsp. of lemon juice with 5 tbsp. of coconut oil. Apply to the scalp to get rid of dandruff. Lemon juice is a natural home remedy for dandruff and will clear away flakes from your scalp. Leave this remedy on the scalp for 20 to 30 minutes and then wash with a shampoo.
Rinsing your scalp with lemon juice works wonders in getting rid of dandruff. You can also use freshly squeezed orange juice for the same purpose.

Tea tree oil
is a natural home remedy for dandruff. It has natural antiseptic and antibiotic properties, which make it best to get rid of dandruff. Tea tree oil can be mixed into lotions, oils and shampoos. Massage the mixture into the scalp and let it sit for 15 minutes, then rinse.

Or you can apply tea tree oil directly to the scalp.

Some people have reported success after washing their hair with apple cider vinegar
Put some apple cider vinegar in a small spray bottle,  mix it with water and spray it on your hair, making sure your entire scalp is covered. Then simply massage thoroughly and waite about 20-30 minutes. Shower and shampoo before going to bed as you normally would, take extra care to rinse well. Don't use it very often, because it does fade color a little bit, but not much.

Whenever you wash your hair be sure to soak your hair brushes and combs in very hot water.

Practice yoga, meditation or deep breathing to reduce stress, which is an important step in controlling dandruff and other skin conditions that may cause it. Begin an exercise regimen, listen to calming music, take up a relaxing hobby or find other ways to keep stress away.
Don't worry, be happy.  :-)

Take care of yourself and remember, adding more vitamins to your diet can improve your overall health, which may improve the condition of your hair and scalp.

Health benefits of smile

Life is like a mirror, we get the best results when we smile at it. If you didn't start your day with a smile, it's not too late to start practicing for tomorrow.
It takes a lot of work from the face to let out a smile, but just think what good smiling can bring to the most important muscle of the body... the heart.

When we laugh, our body releases endorphins. These are brain chemicals known as neurotransmitters, which make us feel happy. Smile improves our health, our stress level and our attractiveness. You can experiment yourself. Put a smile on your face (even if you don't feel like smiling) and try to keep smiling at people around you. Especially when they look grumpy, just smile at them and you will see that at the end they will smile at you back. Making someone smile and brightening their day is one of the most generous things you can do.

How powerful a smile can be?
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
1.) Very powerful a smile can brighten your mood and make your day a happy one.
2.) A smile is the first thing many people notice. It shows your inner beauty.
3.) Promotes self-confidence.
4.) Has positive health effects.
5.) Smiling relieves stress.
6.) Smiling makes you attractive.
7.) Smiling lifts the face and makes you look younger.
8.) Smiling helps you stay positive.

When we smile our body is sending the rest of us a message that "Life is Good!"
Stay away from depression, stress and worry, keep smiling.

Home remedy for smelly feet

Many people have smelly feet and shoes and we all know that smelly feet can be embarrassing.
If you suffer from this foot odor, don't worry.

Follow these home remedies to help your feet to stay drier.

Quick Tip :
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
1.) Wear shoes made from natural materials like: canvas, leather, etc. instead of artificial materials.

2.) Baby powder or baking powder will help to dry up the shoe and absorb the odor.
3.) Take care of your feet, dry them properly, wash your socks after every use and use a deodorizer.
4.) Wear socks that let your feet breathe. Natural fibers such as cotton or wool are best.
5.) If possible, change your socks at least once during the day and don't wear the same pair two days
in a row without washing them.
6.) Make sure you are getting plenty of zinc. One of the symptoms of a zinc deficiency is foot odor.
7.) Soak your feet several times a week with natural apple cider. Remember to dry your feet
     thoroughly after soaking.
8.) Also try vinegar. Pour ½ cup white vinegar into a warm foot bath. Soak feet for half an hour.
     Rinse and dry thoroughly.
9.) Try soaking your feet in mouthwash.
10) Go barefoot when you can. Exposing feet to the air can help sweat evaporate.

Stinky foot odor is generally caused by the growth of bacteria on sweaty feet or in sweaty shoes. Keeping your feet clean and dry and making sure your shoes have thoroughly dried will go a long way towards preventing foot odor. Once again, wear cotton socks, they will absorb moisture when your feet sweat. Don't forget comfortable shoes that allow your feet to breath.
If possible, do not wear the same shoes each day.
Now you know how to stop smelly feet.  :-)

Autumn and Winter skincare

I love Autumn, the colors on the leaves are beautiful, there is warm sun, soft wind and fresh air.
I'm pretty sure that autumn is the best season to take photos of beautiful scenery.
But with the seasons changing comes the cold weather which can be irritating to your skin.
Colder temperatures, wind and hot showers make skin and hair react differently than they do during summer months. Central heating can also play havoc with the complexion, drying it out and making it look dull.

As the air becomes drier, your skin needs a thicker moisturizer. It is important to use a good moisturizer that can nourish your skin and protect it. Using sunscreen all year round is highly recommended, if you want to keep dry skin at bay.

To effectively remove dead skin cells and leave the skin smooth,  do exfoliate, but be gentle.
Keep your skin moisturized. Especially before you apply foundation. It is important that you apply a good moisturizer and leave it for 10 minutes till it is absorbed completely.

Just like your face, you need to continue to protect your hands from cold and damaging UV rays throughout the autumn and winter. Moisturize them regularly to keep them wrinkle free and don't forget to wear gloves.

Your feet are going to be stuck inside your boots and heals for months to come, take care of them and exfoliate them on a regular basis. A foot bath once a week is a great way to refresh your feet.

1.) Fill a bowl with warm water
2.) Include some herbs, essential oils, sea salt, or olive oil.
3.) Enjoy soaking your feet for 15 to 20 minutes.
4.) At the end, gently scrub the bottom of your feet, this will remove dead skin.
5.) Don't forget to put a cream afterwards. Use a hydrating foot cream to massage the top and bottom
     of your feet.

Hot oil therapy is very useful for dandruff and dry hair. Heat pure coconut oil or olive oil. Apply on the scalp. Dip a towel in hot water, squeeze out the water and wrap the warm towel around the head like a turban. Keep on for five minutes. Repeat the wrap three times a week.

No time to wash your hair? Don't panic!
Dry shampoo is a lifesaver and your secret weapon for your hair. You can never go wrong with a can of Batiste and the good news is, that it comes in a bunch of scents.

Use a lip balm with an SPF of 15 or more and reapply frequently, especially if you are going to be outdoors for longer periods of time.

Drinking at least 8 glasses of water per day will keep your skin moisturized and help eliminate toxins effectively. Have an extra glass of water for every glass of alcohol/cup of coffee you take to prevent possible dehydration. Try to get as much water as possible from fresh fruits and vegetables.

Hat is a common necessity in autumn and winter. Wear fashion, beautiful hats, keep yourself warm and look trendy at the same time.

Tips for dry lips

Are your lips dry and chapped?
This happens often in the winter season when the air is dry.
Keep lip balm handy when outdoors for long periods of time is the best course of prevention, but make sure it also has an SPF of 15 to also protect lips from sunburn. I used to forget my lip balm at home, now I keep one next to my bed in my drawer, one in the bathroom, one in my handbag and one in my winter coat. No more chapped, dry lips!

To avoid a painful winter, follow these tips.

Quick Tips :
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Avoid licking your lips. Digestive enzymes and bacteria in saliva can damage the lips, leaving them in worse shape than before. If you tend to lick your lips, avoid flavored lip balm, which may tempt you to lick your lips even more.

Drink plenty of water to moisturize your lips from the inside. We keep forgeting that we become dehydrated in the winter as well as in the summer.

Cracked lips could be a sign that your diet is low in B vitamins.

Honey is known for its special qualities of making lips and skin very soft.
Rub some honey on your dry lips to heal them fast and retain their moisture. Honey does get sticky after a while, so rinse it off after 10 minutes. Repeat 3x a day.

Extra tip for younger looking lips:
Lip gloss will give your whole face a youthful glow. Try skipping the lipstick and just wear lip gloss instead. Take care of your lips.

I love when it rains

Do you love when it rains?
Since Monday it has been cold and raining a lot. Some people don't like it, but I love when it rains.

For me it seems as it with rain everything bad washes away, all problems, worries.
Especially when it is raining a lot, it is so refreshing and very relaxing.
Feeling the rain, walking in the rain, hearing it and seeing it, really washes away all the stress.
It feel so good.
My favorite thing is to light up my scented candle, make a big, hot, cup of coffee and write.
Rain is my muse and I find it to be very peaceful and inspirational.

Does bad weather affect your motivation and get you down?
If rainy days get you down, think positively and surround yourselves with positive people.
A rainy day may leave you with terrible hair and a bad mood, but it doesn't have to be that way.
Try and listen, there's just something soothing about the sound of rain.
Next time it rains, try making an amazing day in. Stay in bed, watch movies, drink hot chocolate (coffee or tea), learn to love the rain.
Whatever the weather, stay positive!

Even though rain is relaxing and beautiful, being cold or wet can make you catch a cold. Especially now in October when temperature drop drastically down. Keep your walking days in the rain for summer and for now start using an umbrella.

Honey benefits

Honey is a natural remedy and a powerful immune system booster.
It's antioxidant and anti-bacterial properties can help improve digestive system and help you stay healthy. Honey also offers a unique combination of nutritional benefits.
In addition to being a concentrated energy source, honey contains a plenty of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and amino acids. Honey is an instant energy-building food.

If you are feeling low and tired in the morning, instead of reaching out for a can of carbonated energy drink, try honey. Spread it on toast or replace the sugar in your tea with honey for energy.

My favorite is honey with hot water. Mix a spoonful of honey and lemon juice from half a lemon into a cup of warm water and drink it. Honey with hot water does have some benefits. Whenever I have a sore throat, I drink it and it instantly soothes my throat.
Remember not to put honey in very hot water, because it destroys all it nutritions. Though honey has more calories than sugar, honey when consumed with warm water helps in digesting the fat stored in your body. So, it is good for weight loss.

Honey benefits:
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
1.) Prevent cancer and heart disease
2.) Honey is antibacterial and anti-fungal
3.) Reduce cough and throat irritation
4.) Increases calcium absorption
5.) Improves digestion
6.) Honey's anti-inflammatory properties help reduce the itch and irritation of mosquito bites
7.) Regular use of honey can be helpful to cure ulcers and acne
8.) If you take honey with warm milk before going to bed, you will get good sleep

Manuka honey has a reputation as a healing honey.
Because it comes from bees that have been busy pollinating the Manuka trees that grow almost exclusively in the East Cape region of New Zealand, it has rarity value. Manuka honey is expensive, but most people who've used it say it's worth the money.
Why not give it a go?

Spinach enhance collagen production; and lycopene found in tomatoes and pink grapefruit, protects against sun damage.

Blueberries are one of the most nutritious and powerful superfoods. Berries slow the aging process, by reducing free radical damage.

Drink carrot juice or eat carrots. It is very rich in beta-carotene which is an antioxidant, it prevents cell degeneration and the aging process is slowed down.

Cut orange in 2 pieces and massage it on your skin, leave it for 10-15 minutes. Do it 3x per week. Your skin will become shiny and glowing within one month.

Strawberries are beneficial to our skin and help maintain a healthy appearance. They are full of antioxidants.

Drinking plenty of water really does help skin become healthier. Water moisturizes your skin from the inside, making it more youthful looking. It also helps flush out toxins and waste products from the body.

Warm lemon water serves as the perfect good morning drink as it aids the digestive system and makes the process of eliminating the waste products from the body easier.

What to avoid? Sugar. Eating to many of sugary food causes wrinkles.
Try and stay away from sodas and drinks that are full of high sugars. These drinks will add toxins to your skin. Stick with several cups of water and tea to help flush toxins from foods out of your body.
