Tips for dry lips

Are your lips dry and chapped?
This happens often in the winter season when the air is dry.
Keep lip balm handy when outdoors for long periods of time is the best course of prevention, but make sure it also has an SPF of 15 to also protect lips from sunburn. I used to forget my lip balm at home, now I keep one next to my bed in my drawer, one in the bathroom, one in my handbag and one in my winter coat. No more chapped, dry lips!

To avoid a painful winter, follow these tips.

Quick Tips :

Avoid licking your lips. Digestive enzymes and bacteria in saliva can damage the lips, leaving them in worse shape than before. If you tend to lick your lips, avoid flavored lip balm, which may tempt you to lick your lips even more.

Drink plenty of water to moisturize your lips from the inside. We keep forgeting that we become dehydrated in the winter as well as in the summer.

Cracked lips could be a sign that your diet is low in B vitamins.

Honey is known for its special qualities of making lips and skin very soft.
Rub some honey on your dry lips to heal them fast and retain their moisture. Honey does get sticky after a while, so rinse it off after 10 minutes. Repeat 3x a day.

Extra tip for younger looking lips:
Lip gloss will give your whole face a youthful glow. Try skipping the lipstick and just wear lip gloss instead. Take care of your lips.

  4. Great tips about dry lips. This year I started getting dry lips in early September because I used my air conditioner too much! The most important tip I learned is to not lick your lips and drink a lot of water. Good job :)
